    Ben Folds — Cologne

Carson’s extremely well written post about connecting his emotional experiences with Ben Folds’ music got me listening to Way To Normal again, and while I don’t really associate my life to the music I listen, this track has always been one of my favorites. Since I’m a writer (a bad one, at that, but a writer nevertheless), I can’t help but appreciate intelligent and beautifully conceived lyrics, and Ben Folds is a true wordsmith. And, for that fact alone, I’ve always admired him and his work.

    Eminem — Not Afraid

I have no idea why, but I’ve gotten back into Eminem. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with his music, and with rap in general, but Recovery is an extremely good album. Not even the beats, but the lyrics and, shockingly, the thought put into them are amazing.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk

So I started my journey into exercise today by taking thirty minutes out of my day and running on the treadmill. By “running” I mean jogging. And by “jogging” I mean speed walking. But I digress.

I felt like I needed some music to motivate me. I remembered my aunt telling me she lost twenty pounds in two weeks simply by changing her music to Nirvana, even though she hated the album. And, while I’m not very fond of Daft Punk, I’ll be damned if their album didn’t get me running.

Now, please excuse me as I pass out.

I’ve been on a real Beatles stint for the past few days. I don’t know why, but I’m loving it.
